What is the nearest airport, and how can I get to RGU from the airport?

The nearest airport to Aberdeen is Aberdeen International Airport (IATA code: ABZ). Here's how you can get from the airport to RGU and your accommodation:

Taxi: The quickest and most convenient option is to take a taxi from the airport. Taxis are readily available at the airport, and the journey to RGU and your accommodation will take around 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Airport Shuttle: Some hotels and accommodations in Aberdeen offer airport shuttle services for their guests. If you're staying in university-provided accommodation, could you please check if they offer this service?

Public Transport: You can also use public transport to reach RGU and your accommodation:

  • Bus: The Airport Express Bus 727 connects the airport to various locations in Aberdeen, including the city centre. You can then take a local bus or a taxi to RGU or your accommodation from the city centre. The bus journey from the airport to the city centre takes 30-40 minutes.
  • Train: There must be a direct train connection from the airport to RGU, but you can take a train from Dyce Station (near the airport) to Aberdeen Station and then use a taxi or bus to reach RGU.

Car Rental: If you prefer flexibility and have a lot of luggage, you can rent a car at the airport and drive to RGU and your accommodation. Aberdeen has well-maintained road networks.

Could you check with your accommodation provider if they offer specific transportation recommendations or services for new international students? Additionally, it's a good idea to have some British pounds (GBP) on hand for transportation costs or to have a plan for currency exchange at the airport.
